How Does Your Garden Grow??

First garden was in 1989, the children were young and enjoyed helping out in the garden. We used the wide row method from the book "Joy of Gardening" by Dick Raymond. The veggies were picked small and they kept coming all summer...we had a bumper crop!

Then we moved to where we live now...

 and slowly started to garden.
Our almost acre plot had grapes, peach tree, pear tree, 2 apple trees, mulberry trees, cherry tree, and a strawberry patch.
Our first garden was small. In 2009 a huge ice storm destroyed most of the fruit trees over time.

Then we added more the following years: bluebird box, bird bath,  flowers, vegetables, and herbs.

corn and sunflowers from 2015 garden

just as corn was ready to pick something got to it first :( I was able to save one ear and it was delicious (Country Gentleman)

we had red and yellow watermelons

we had cayenne and jalapenos

This year I'm excited about planting some Blacktail Mountain watermelons, Giant White-seeded Sunflowers, Early Purple Sprouting Broccoli (already started some) and flower seeds our daughter picked up from George Washington's Mount Vernon (Larkspur and Foxglove), German Chamomile, Berlicum Carrots etc.

It is exciting getting the seeds organized and knowing spring is only a few months away. Wonder what 2016 garden will look like!?
