What’s For Supper

What's for Supper?
A few weeks ago, I found this cute chef holding a chalkboard menu. It has been great for helping Ronnie (who had a stroke 2 years ago) remember what's for supper/dinner. I erase it at night and write down the new menu plan. Today we are having homemade pizza (the dough is rising as I write). Toppings will be mushrooms, peppers, green/black olives, cheese and hamburger.

Last month our children came for a visit. While here our "grand dog" Daisy was unexpectedly skunk sprayed in the face one evening. We decided to keep Daisy for a month...no need to stink up two homes. WHAT a smell!!!! I'm glad to report Daisy is home now and our house smells as fresh as a Daisy (wildflower not dog!) Although Daisy now has only has a faint skunk smell around her face...a trip to the dog beauty parlor helped:)

Most winter days we have about 5 regular Canada Geese at our back door. The leader of the flock is the "deformed" goose, we call Snag; the other geese will watch as the leader eats. Snag gets the first bites of corn kernels. The geese are so beautiful in the sky. They will fly overhead from west to east, circle back around and float down to the ground. One evening while the sun was setting they made their usual entrance ...the red orange sunset shimmered through their feathers. It was a gorgeou sight!!

Many winter birds have been showing up at the feeder. One unusual goldfinch showed up last week...An Albino Goldfinch showed up at the broken birdbath now bird feeder. Cute :)

Their usual winter coat is yellowish gray...

Many birds, such as the Junco, like to hide in the Queen Hydrangea bush when the winds howl and temperatures drop in the teens.

It is a peaceful quiet day...temps in the 50's and I'm thankful for life and its wonders.
