side by side
I was lying in bed tonight and thinking about life...the ugliness and the beauty. I see pain, starvation, war, and hatred of human to human. Then I see things that are so perfect in beauty and inspire me deep down. Years ago my husband bought us a small Cool-pix camera, that was when I began to look at nature more closely. I've had no photography classes, but I did read the instruction book that came with the camera. That is how my photo-taking journey began. The camera is small and well worn; the battery door doesn't even close.
On bent knees I snapped a photo of a small spring "weed", Henbit...how amazing to see the close-up beauty; it was just as beautiful as a large red rose! It even reminded me of an orchid.
The summer sunflowers were beginning to open and the sky was so blue when I took a photo. It was amazing how the petals seemed to dance open...
One day I wandered in the field next to our yard and took a quick photo of the Queen Anne's Lace. There in the middle of this white laced design was one red flower. Amazing!
As we traveled to visit our son in Arkansas, the sun began to slowly disappear and the sky was transformed into a magical array of color...a photo was snapped.
On a cold winter morning, while looking out the door I noticed the sun was coming up and peeking through the tree branches. After taking the photo, I noticed the beauty of the long pink shadows on the white snow....
At a Tiger Sanctuary near Branson, Missouri the Cool-pix was able to capture the beauty of this rescued tiger...awesome patterns!
The Mountains of Alaska were standing tall and erect in the autumn sky...just one photo as the small plane flew by it's snow covered caps.
What is ahead for 2016?? Well, maybe a new camera for one thing. As far as beauty and ugliness, I guess both will continue side by side for awhile longer, but one day I'm sure things will change!!!
The camera helped bring nature's beauty into focus!
