End of May Memory and Our Yard In June
May came to a close with a wonderful visit from our three children and 6 grandchildren. It was our 40th wedding anniversary and they surprised us with a meal out, surrounded by the best gift...FAMILY!!
After the meal, we came home to cake, flowers and a special gift from the children. I'm so proud of our children and grandchildren. We have been greatly blessed!!!
Everyone stayed for several days and then they packed up and left us with a quiet house. The granddaughters will be back in several weeks for their summer visit with grandma and papa :)
June has been busy so far! The corn and sunflowers did not come up!! because of all the cold rain and lower than usual spring temperatures. I left the wildflower garden completely alone, just to see what would come up on it's own. I'm pleasantly surprised at the variety that has made an appearance. There are herbs on the front porch and a few herbs in the garden. As far as veggies, not as much this year: lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, potatoes, green beans, watermelons, cucumbers and peppers. R still has to make me another raised bed, but he has been busy with other projects (helping others). Of course, fishing is on the agenda for this week...we are having gorgeous June weather!!

Lots of color in the wildflower
garden. Daisies, cosmos, cone flowers, etc.
The southern magnolia tree is now covered in it's large white flowers. I love to sit on the porch and smell all the different aromas...honeysuckle, magnolia, mint, oregano, thyme, rosemary...! Also the bees are busy collecting pollen, the squirrels are scampering in the yard and the small hummingbirds are flying around the feeders. June is going GREAT so far!!!
