MARCHING ON to April!
Well, today is the last day of March! It is a chilly, cloudy day with temps in the 60's; the little snow we received this winter is now a distant memory. Rain has been plentiful this month, with puddles standing in the yard. This week R. mowed for the first time, unfortunately, the lawnmower did have to be pulled out of a ditch! Work around the house continues, with the hope of putting it on the market soon and moving to Missouri. Everything is looking so good, I hate to leave our home of 30 years!!!
March started out with very warm weather and spring flowers began to bloom! Then came a long hard freeze. The tulip magnolia flowers became wilted and brown. The Plena bushes white flowers also had a droopy look. The Red Bud flowers did not seem to be affected.
It was a great month for watching the squirrels and birds. Today the beautiful handmade feeder is going into storage...awaiting our move. The squirrels loved the apples, nuts, seeds and even tomatoes!
I was VERY excited to see a new bird at the feeder...a Brown Thrasher!! love the yellow around the eye!
The regulars also came by for a snack: house finch (male and below a lovely photo of the female) and downy woodpecker.
The yard has been filled with purple tones of Henbit and yellow Ragwort and purple violets. Here is a favorite photo of a spring bouquet!

The oven has been busy with baking of bread and a blackberry cobbler (using last of the summer blackberries). Also we bought a new INSTANT POT and I love it!!!
Wonder what is ahead for April???
