Bluebird No Longer Lonely...but Still Loyal

The lonely, loyal, friendly bluebird has finally found another female. His fluttering thumps have ended and the pair are now busy building yet another nest (round three). I decided not to put out mealy worms, to keep the mockingbirds at a distance. So far everything is going okay.  Mr. Bluebird loves following us in the yard and is never far away.

Also this week, we saw a new bird at the feeder!!!
That is always exciting. The Brown-Headed Cowbird is a summer bird in Kentucky. (no photo as of yet :(  ....) An interesting fact about this bird, it has no nest. It just lays eggs in other bird nests. In 10-13 days the host bird incubates the eggs (white with brown markings). The Cowbird is a member of the blackbird family. and is the only parasitic bird in Kentucky. They are known to have laid eggs in nests of over 200 species of birds. Some will get rid of their eggs, but most will go ahead and accept them.

Mockingbird sits at the Red Bud Tree...he was being nice.

Mother's Day flowers came in the mail..."you've got mail"! Lovely bouquets in several different ways! ...plus phone calls.

Our Three Children are a joy...and the grand babies are a big JOY!!
I don't think a day goes by that my mom is not remembered...this collage has a photo of her in her late teens or early twenties. She loved flowers and had a double dose of "green thumbs"! As a little girl, she would draw pictures of nature. Mom is always remembered ...Mother's Day and everyday.

We have finished work on the house and will be interviewing a couple of realtors soon. Hope we are able to sell our home sometime this summer. June is not far off ...summer will feel different with big changes on the horizon.
